Exposure therapy
Anxiety, Obsessions, Compulsions, Hoarding, and Avoidance Patterns
Do certain situations cause intense anxiety or distress that makes you want to avoid them?
Do you experience upsetting thoughts that seem to come out of nowhere—and feel compelled to repeat behaviors (including mental ones) to feel relief?
If so, you’re likely caught in a cycle that many people face: discomfort, avoidance, temporary relief—and then the anxiety returns. The good news is that this pattern can be changed.
I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a well-established behavioral strategy within Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help people shift these patterns. Moreover, I help parents to improve their communication and reduce accommodations that maintain their children’s anxiety using the SPACE treatment.
In our work together, you will:
- Learn how anxiety and avoidance operate in your daily life
- Build a plan to face situations, thoughts, or sensations you’ve been avoiding
- Practice staying present with discomfort—without using safety behaviors or compulsions
- Reset your body’s “fight or flight” system” over time, reducing unnecessary anxiety
I’ve specialized in ERP for over 11 years. My training was grounded in CBT, and I spent six years (2018-2024) at the Renewed Freedom Center, one of the leading anxiety and OCD clinics in the U.S. I also attended a two-day SPACE workshop (December 2025)
Prolonged Exposure (PE)
Working Through Trauma
When we go through or witness something overwhelming or life-threatening, our brain and body may stay stuck in “survival mode” long after the danger is over.
You might experience PTSD symptoms:
- Intrusive memories, nightmares, or flashbacks
- Emotional or physical reactions to reminders of the event
- Sleep disturbances, jumpiness, or a sense of constant alertness
- Avoidance of places, people, or activities related to the trauma
- Difficulty trusting others or feeling safe
To help with this, I use Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy—an evidence-based, structured approach that helps you gradually face trauma-related memories and situations in a safe, supportive way. Over time, this can reduce fear, avoidance, and distress.
I’ve been using PE since 2020 and continue to receive specialized training and supervision. I have attended two focused workshops on trauma-related OCD and best practices for PE in 2024. Finally, I attended a two-day Prolonged Exposure training with Star Behavioral Health Providers (SBHP) in August 2025.

Addressing Depression with Action, Awareness, and new Prospectives
When you’re depressed, everything can feel heavy: thoughts, body, energy, even hope.
You might struggle with:
- Difficulty focusing or making decisions
- Sleep and appetite changes
- Low energy or motivation
- Feeling numb, sad, hopeless, or disconnected from life
- Losing interest in things that once mattered
In therapy, I use a combination of behavioral activation and cognitive restructuring—both core CBT techniques. Together, we’ll work to:
- Rebuild routines and reintroduce activities that bring purpose or connection
- Identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns
- Address the emotional and physical symptoms in a structured, step-by-step way
I’ve been helping people manage depression for over a decade—whether it’s the main issue or secondary to anxiety, trauma, or avoidance.
